BRAC Application

The Application Process

The process of obtaining environmental insurance under the BRAC Program is much the same as it is for obtaining any environmental insurance policy. All you have to do is:

  • Complete a PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY FORM and submit it to BDC Capital, along with the requested information on the environmental conditions of your site. Often, your attorney, broker or LSP can assist with this.

BDC Capital will review your application and, if approved for the program, you’ll receive a SUBSIDY APPROVAL CERTIFICATE, generally within 48 hours.

When applying for insurance, your broker will provide a copy of your Approval Certificate to the Selected Insurance Provider(s) underwriting your coverage, so they know that your coverage is being obtained in connection with the BRAC Program.

That’s all there is to it! From there the process is the same as it would be for placing any environmental insurance policy. Your Broker, the insurance carrier and BDC Capital will do the rest.

Once coverage is bound and the premium is paid, the amount of subsidy for which your project qualifies will be sent to you by BDC Capital, generally within 48 hours of receipt of the necessary information from your broker. In some cases you may even be able to pay the premium net of the subsidy.
